I have to restart InDesign for a recently activated font to be recognized. I think this started after I updated to Sierra (10.12.2). InDesign actually restarts way faster than before, but still, restarting a dozen plus times a day isn't fun.

Has Font Explorer been updated for CC 2017? Have you talked to Font Explorer tech support (you should)?
i had been updating through the program but i went to their website and needed to download (and sadly purchase) a new version. the new version worked just fine.
any recommendations for a free font management program?
Just pay for the upgrade if it works. You can’t make upgrades to one part of a system in a vacuum. That includes applications, utilities and operating systems.
