New Canon M5 CR2 files do not import into lightroom?!

I purchased the new M5 and when I try to upload photos into lightroom, it only uploads jpeg files and says it cannot support CR2 files.  But, my raw files written on my Canon 6D have always uploaded just fine.  Is it because it is a new product & lightroom hasn't caught up yet?  Is it really a different type of file?

You don't say what version of Lightroom you have, but you would need Lightroom 6.8 to import the RAWs from this camera.

Alternatively, you can use the free Adobe DNG Converter verison 9.8 to convert your RAWs to DNG, and then import the DNGs into Lightroom.
