Which pixel bender application/program are you trying to install?
On what operating system?
Unfortunately, there is no pixel bender plugin for photoshop cc.
If you want to run pixel bender filters you can use the Pixel Bender Toolkit 2.5 from here
To install follow the directions under Creative Suite 5.5, 5, and 4 on this page
After installing go to /Applications/Utilities/Adobe Utilities-CS5.localized/Pixel Bender Toolkit 2 and double click on the
Pixel Bender Toolkit.app
Then go to File>Open Filter and open the Mandelbulb.pbk, then hit the Build and Run button.
After that you should be able to use the filter and adjust the sliders in the right hand column.
You can save the resulting image using File>Save Image As
After all this time, and I'm talking years, there is still no easy solution for the beautiful pixel bender plug in that was available for Photoshop.
All these questions have been largely ignored.
Not one person has said, "Thanks" you helped me out.
Going back to 2014 there are people pleading to get pixel bender back.
Adobe is silent.
This shouldn't be so difficult. It is 2017 and people want the plug in for pixel bender to work in Photoshop.
Kindly reply with a solution.
The post on that link you sent are years old already. Wouldn't you think, that with so very many millions of people who are Photoshop users, SCREAMING for Pixel Bender that Adobe might consider executing the usage of it again for Photoshop? MILLIONS of loyal Adobe users. Adobe is SILENT for years. Read these posts yourself and pass this information along to the developers. Please! It's YEARS ALREADY.
It - obviously - will not work on recent Mac OS's.
A work around I use is the Filter -> DIstort -> Twirl
Hint: Apply "Twirl" to Oval or Round selections, repeat as desired.
Then apply Filter -> Stylize -> Oilpaint, Reduce Shine to 0 if want no visible brush strokes.
Landscapes with clouded skies are perfect for experimenting...enjoy!
