For RAW images of the Sony A7RII you need LR 6.11 or higher.
You can buy an update only in the Adobe shop.
You can also use the FREE Adobe DNG Converter to convert your camera's RAW photos to DNG, and then import the DNGs into your Lightroom 5.

Three spinoff questions:
- If I get the LR 6.x update from LR 5, do I still have to do something with ACR? If so, where do I find this on my Mac?
- Do you have any idea which version of LR 6 is currently being sent from the download site?
- Is there a required Mac OS version to run LR 6?
If you use Lightroom, you can ignore ACR. It has no effect on Lightroom.
I assume you get the latest version of Lightroom (which is 6.8) when you download, but you may have to download, install, and then apply the Lightroom 6.8 patch, it isn't hard.
OS requirements for LR 6:
I do not understand: it says that one needs LR 6.11 to get Sony A7R ii
report. but you say that LR 6.8 is the latest version. how do we
Ah, that was a typo by Axel Matt, who should have typed version 6.1.1, and so 6.8 is a later version that does support your camera.
Thanks again for your help:
