dynamic graphics preview not working in CC17 - how to fix?

The dynamic graphics preview feature is not working in indesign CC17 when moving or resizing image inside the graphics frame with direct selection tool. The whole image becomes visible rather than frame with the shaded area outside. This makes it extremely difficult for visual placement/cropping of image. Is there a fix for this?

I'm naving no problem using the Direct Selection and getting dynamic preview in InDesign CC 2017.

Try restoring your InDesign preferences:

Trash, Replace, Reset, or Restore the application Preferences

I re-read your message again. You mean that it's not graying out the part outside of the cropping area like this:

That appears to be a discrepancy or bug caused by using the GPU instead of the CPU. You can disable it by choosing View > CPU Preview.
