How do you use a digital signature with the mobile apps?

I have a document (created on a regular pc) that has signature fields.  When I use my phone or tablet app to populate a signature, the document field does not recognize this and when re-opened on the computer, the signature field still reads as unfilled.  Is there a way to create a digital signature that can be used with mobile devices?
