Photoshop won't open

Photoshop suddenly stopped working, tools misfunctioning.  A box came up saying checking internet on membership status.  (?)  Went to products I have and there was my Photoshop (with serial number) I bought and paid for in 2013.  No other help was found.  What does all this mean??

Are you signed-in to Creative Cloud Desktop App?  If yes, try signing-out and then sign-in again.
