Why do you import and not open the images?

What file formats?

Could you post an image and a screenshot of the image in Photoshop taken at View > 100%`

Sorry for the confusion, I meant Open not Import. The files formats I tried were Png and Jpg.Screen Shot 2017-02-17 at 1.42.54 PM.jpgScreen Shot 2017-02-17 at 1.43.12 PM.jpg

View at 100%, shortcut ctrl+1. You have them at 66.67%, and this scaling inevitably softens the image.

100% maps one image pixel to exactly one screen pixel.

You did not post the original images themselves for comparison, you did not display the images at View > 100% for the screenshots and I can discern no immediately noticeable problem.

The image you posted does not appear to be the same one as in the screenshot.

Also the file in the screenshot seems to contain Smart Objects – what are their scaling factors and do they have the same resolution as the containing document?
