AI CS6 locks up when using scale or rotate tool

Hi, for some reason when I try using (double click) the scale or rotate tool in the toolbar the program freezes up and just makes a clicking sound when I try clicking onto something. I have to force-quit and restart the program, only to have it happen again.

All the other functions seem to work. I restarted the machine, closed all applications, etc. This just started today for some reason.

Does anyone know what the heck this is? I hope someone can help, I have some jobs due...

• restart your computer
• uninstall any iIllustrator or System plug ins

I uninstalled and then reinstalled successfully - but it is still doing it - locking up when I use the rotate, scale or shear tool. Any other ideas please?

Which system exactly?

WHich hardware exactly?

This actually sounds like the dialog box has opened and is hidden somewhere (on a monitor that no longer exists or whatever).

When your system does this, does it help when you just click Esc? Because then the dialog box issue would be likely

Yes that is it! The dialog box was entirely off the page with just a tiny corner peeking out. I never would have guessed that that was the problem! Thank you so much to Monika and Mike for taking the time to help me out!
