Please supply more information, maybe a screen shot of the Character and Paragraph panels so we can see your font and settings. Select the text first, please.

To help you we need to know InDesign version (exactly), operating system, and what font you're using (exactly). Has the font been outlined?

Quick guess. It looks like you're on a Mac. If you have a GPU and Retina Display, try choosing View > Preview on CPU. It could be a GPU display bug.

It looks like you have outlined your font, then released the compound path, then re-set the compound path, possibly using the direct selection tool. (Object> Paths> Release Compound Path).
