Hello,

I have video file (.mov) which I exported from Premier pro 1280 x 720, 50 fps. , length 2:30 seconds. I need to update subtitle in this video but its frustrating that video is playing very slow in Composition in After effect 2017. Yesterday, I spent my all day to read all technical things to improve performance to play it smoothly in after effect but luck did not work. I have my Lenovo Laptop Z51

System Details:

Window 8.1

Processor:   Intel (R) Core (TM) i5-5200 CPU @ 2.20GHz  2.20 GHz

Ram:  8GB

System Type:  64-Bit Operating System, x64-bassed processor

C: Drive Total Memory   525 GB

C: Drive Free Memory   329 GB

Open GL -  ( According to After Effect/Preference/Preview/ Gpu information )

Vendor: ATI Technologies Inc.

Device:  AMD RADEON (TM) R9 M375

Version:  3.0.13469 Compatibility Profile Context 21.19

I can not work in slow mode, I did not buy after effect to work in slow mode. I am very much frustrated that my work got to be pending because of it. Please Adobe Team Help me.  Any more information, I will give you.

Thanks,

Javed ( Waiting curiously )

Now, you DO understand that AE doesn't play video like PP, correct?

You DO understand that previewing instead of hitting the space bar is the norm, correct?

Yes, I know AE can't play video smoothly like PP but it is very much slow, like too slow. If I have healthy configuration in my laptop then why I have to suffer this much. I need to do so many things in after effect in coming future, I can not use it in this much slow mode. Please help me.

In previewing and hitting space bar, both are giving same slow mode playback performance ?

For subtitle work, I usually recommend Premiere. It has actual subtitle tools, but even if you're just adding text over top of things, it's a lot faster than After Effects.

That being said, the problem might be in the codec you output from Premiere Pro. What were your export settings?
