I use Indesign on a regular basis and recently it no longer allows me to open images from the main page (options being open/new). I can place an image once I create a new document but this is difficult because I need to know the exact size of the photo to make the document filled or have extra space. No matter what the image is saved as I get this message.
It isn't happening in any of the other programs, and I don't know what triggered it! Any help is appreciated! Thanks!
File > Open is reserved for opening InDesign documents, books and libraries.
You must use File > Place to add images to an open InDesign file, you cannot open image files as an InDesign document.
I need to know the exact size of the photo to make the document filled or have extra space.
Open the file in Photoshop and choose Image > Image Size. Make note of the width and height. Return to InDesign and choose File > New and enter the same measurements.
Not sure where you got the idea that you ever were able to open an image that way. InDesign never allowed for this.
