I recently updated indesign from CC 2016 whatever it was to the 2017.0 Release 126.96.36.199 Build.
I'm running a mac with OS X Yosemite 10.10.5
Since upgrading indesign any time i click on a text box and hit cmd+A or try to select some text I get a spinning beachball for about a second before it will actually select anything. It seems to be happening with all my documents, even if I start a brand new one with nothing else in it.
Does anybody know what could be causing this?
is it perhaps specific to this version of indesign or some weird conflict with my version of the OS?
Go to Preferences > Advanced Type. At the bottom in the Type Contextual Controls section, turn off the options.
See if that make a difference. It helps a lot of people.
Thanks for the tip Steve, worked like a charm.
I don't remember ever turning those on but they really ought to be unchecked by default and have some kind of warning attached
if they can slow things down that much!
The engineers are aware of the problem. It will be fixed in the next InDesign update.
