Illustrator tools sporadically working

I just installed latest version of Illustrator CC. From the very beginning tools are sporadically working.

For example the selection tool sometimes lets me draw a box around objects, but mostly does not.

The hand tool for panning sometimes works, but mostly does not.

Selecting an object to drag is not working, and I have to move with arrow keys.

This is very frustrating.

Any advice would be really appreciated.

What operating system are you on?

Try Command E to toggle GPU preview.

Then Ctrl E, and you will see up after the file name in parenthesis what mode you are in.

I have this too.

Sometimes when I'm using the pen tool after a few points are placed, the pen tool functions no more as a pen tool but as the magic wand or the droplet too. Sometimes I have to zoom out to rectify the problem.

It varies between tools as well. Sometimes it's the line or shape tool.

It's with this recent update. Before that I was having no issues.

Anyone else have this problem?
