i'm not sure what you're describing. but if you're trying to edit a text file that's on the server, you'll need to use some server-side scripting, in addition, to flash.
I will try to explain
1. on a PC is running a player showing a sequence of jpg, swf, bmp, etc...
2. this player is running in an infinite loop, displaying the sequence
3. the sequence of jpg, swf, bmp... is in a TXT file
what i'm trying to do:
I do NOT have remote access to the TXT file, but I can remotely subsitute one or more of the media file, i.e. I can change the show, but not the sequence.
I should like to have a swf file capable to re-write/change the TXT file
BTW, the TXT file is in the same directory of the media file
I really do not have idea if this is possible via a swf file
what do you think about?
your swf is being displayed in a browser or you're displaying a projector file that's displayed in the stand-alone player?
Thx kglad for your interest
it's a stand alone player...
you should check adobe air for a free solution which is much more capable than a flash projector file. or you can use a flash wrapper program. for example: http://www.communitymx.com/content/article.cfm?cid=107B6
Thanks kglad for your support
... but I really don't need an EXE... it will be ignored by the player.
The player is not a software of mine, and the counterpart does not want to modify the program in order to "play" (execute) something different from media file (would be nice a BAT too..)
so, my strange idea: actionscript and swf for editing a TXT file.
If you don't have any suggestion, I'm lost
maybe I can use the mdm.FileSystem class, compile in swf, and stop (no zinc compilation to exe)
if you're making a stand-alone flash application that will not be displayed in a browser, you're making a projector file which is an .exe.
