Hi guys,

I am new in Adobe (-: ...it is an amazing exploration...

I would like to know why Ratio in the crop tool is not working anymore since a few days...could someone tell me what happened?

Thank you,

Daniela

P.S. Also the rulers in VIEW disappeared!

Hi Daniela

Can you confirm that you have Ratio set in the Options Bar?

Hi Daniela

Which application are you using (e.g. Photoshop CC, Photoshop Elements, Illustrator etc) , so we can move your post to the appropriate forum?

Hi Daniela

I moved this post to the Photoshop forum.

Crop tool :

When you say Ratio is" not working" have you set it in the crop tool options bar (see below )

If you have, can you post a screenshot of what you are getting instead.

Rulers :

You should be able to set the rulers in the View menu. If they are not there , first try resetting the workspace.

Go to the top right of the options bar and click the down arrow.

From the menu click on Essentials - then Reset Essentials

If that does not restore things you may need to reset Preferences - but we'll cross that bridge if we come to it

Can you post a screenshot when you say that the ratio in crop aren't working?

Also, Have you checked that in View> Rulers is ticked?

See below:

If not you may want to try resetting your preferences and see if this resolves the problem.

Hello,

Thank you!

Yes ratio is there, and if selected doesn't let me crop manually, it goes only in proportion (I was using it last week and was working perfectly)

The rulers are there like you show in your picture, but before, hope I am not confusing tools, I could use it also to see a grid on my sheet (not only the rulers), now the grid doesn't appear anymore...

There might be another tool that I am confusing with rulers to get the grid?

Thank you, and sorry for the mess...(-:

Either you are referring to the grid or guides for general use:

OR you want the grid when using crop:

In addition you can clear the proportion on crop using this button:

You may find that you have to re-select Ratio from the drop down or go switch out and back from the crop tool to enable non-proportional cropping.

Hi

Original ratio means crop but keep the same aspect ratio (Height to Width) as the existing image.
