    Error Message

    Level 7
      I keep getting an error message after closing a file

      "Info: Preferences file is read-only and cannot be over-written"

      Anyone know what is the cause and cure?

          If you're on a mac, quit FW and then repair permissions. Could be that file is locked.

            Thanks for your reply.

            Im on a PC , xp, Fireworks 8. And it happens even if I dont open a file, if
            I just open FW, after clsing, I get the same message..

              Hi, I'm rusty with windows, but try this:

              To re-create the Fireworks preferences folder:

              1. Quit Fireworks.
              2. In Windows Explorer, go to \Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Adobe\Fireworks CS4 and move this folder to another location (for example, C:\Temp).
              3. Start Fireworks. Fireworks creates a new preferences folder.
