I just got a new camera (Panasonic GH5) but I need the most recent version of Camera Raw for Photoshop CS 6 to open the raw files.  I downloaded V9.9 and ran the intall but when I start Photoshop after rebooting, it is still 9.1.1. Please don't tell me I have to start paying by the month just to open files from my new camera!

CS6 is only compatible with Camera Raw up to version 9.1.1. No further updates are possible for CS6.

Cameras supported by Camera Raw

Your GH5 was first supported in Camera Raw 9.9 which is only supported in CC (Cloud version).

Options:

  1. Join the Cloud, or
  2. Download the free Adobe DNG converter, batch convert all GH5 Raw files to DNG format then edit the DNG files in CS6. An extra step for you but no extra cost.

Thanks John Waller. This is what I feared was the case.  i'm not wild about an extra step because i do a lot of Raw images:( I just hate being forced into a subscription. But it looks like it's finally happened.  I was hoping my CS6 would last a lot longer.  It does everything I need it to do. Thanks again.
