Error code 4 after 12.1.0.56 build; can't open InDesign document

After 2017.1 Release of 12.1.0.56 Build, I can't open my InDesign document.

What do I do?

Try restoring your InDesign preferences:

Trash, Replace, Reset, or Restore the application Preferences

I was going to tell you I'm afraid to do what you suggested, and then, for some magical reason,

after I'd gone to my backup disk to see what was what there—same deal, and restarted to my main disk,

the problem was gone.
