Shapes showing up over text

I updated my Indesign to the latest version CC 2017. Since then, all of my layouts have weird shapes showing up over my objects and text. Any ideas of how to get rid

of them?  Below is an example.

Can you specify the OS version you are on?

Is it MAC 10.12.4?

Also, can you select the "weird shapes"? or are they distortions of some shape that you inserted? or do they look like display glitches?
