Lightroom CC + Olympus OMD E-M5 II

    mkreibohm

      Hi there,

I have a Lightroom CC (2015) subscription and both Lightroom (5.7.1) and Camera RAW (8.7.1) are up to date.

However, Lightroom is unable to open the RAW files (.ORF) from my Olympus OMD E-M5 II.

According to Adobe, these files require Camera RAW 8.8 or higher and/or Lightroom 6 or higher. However, as stated, I am on a Adobe CC plan and my CC app tells me everything is up to date, i.e. there's no apparent way for me to go any higher than the versions stated above.

was under the impression that a CC subscription automatically meant having the latest release of Lightroom, but apparently that's not the case.

Do I need to upgrade to Lightroom 6 somehow (if so, how?) to make this work?

      Thanks in advance!

      Cheers,

      Michael

          Hi Michael,

Could you please open Lightroom and post the Help>>System info report here so that we can confirm the version of Lightroom in use?

          Thanks,

          Akash

If you are subscribed to Lightroom CC 2015 you are NOT up to date. Lightroom 5.7.1 is old and out of date. The only reason you would be using that is if you have a 32-bit operating system. That version of Lightroom will not support your camera. You should be using Lightroom CC 2015.10. And if you are keeping up to date with Photoshop then you should have Photoshop CC 2017 along with Camera Raw 9.9. There is no Camera Raw version to associate directly with the operation of Lightroom because it doesn't use the camera raw plug-in. The Camera Raw plug-in is only integrated when transferring an image from Lightroom to Photoshop, and it's Photoshop that utilizes the plug-in.

Do you in fact have Lightroom CC 2015 installed? If so use the Creative Cloud Application to check your account for updates. See the screen capture.

                  Hi there,

                  thanks for your replies!

As I've said, the Adobe CC app tells me all my apps are up to date (after checking for updates):

As you can see, I am one the current Photoshop version, so I have no idea why Lightroom CC would be outdated (without the app telling me so).

What can I do to update to Lightroom CC 2015.10? As you can see in my system info report above, I am using a 64-bit OS.

                  Cheers,

                  Michael

Go to the following website and download Lightroom CC 2015. After you install it then you will need to download and install the most recent update. It won't be necessary to install all of the interim updates.

                    Download Photoshop Lightroom

I am in the United States. Scroll to the bottom of the page and change to the appropriate region to where you are living.

You probably have both Lightroom 5.7 and Lightroom CC installed and are opening the Lightroom 5.7 version instead of CC. Probably your Dock icon is still pointing to the old Lightroom. Make sure you run the CC version.

Yes indeed. From your system info: "Version von Lightroom: 5.7.1 [994773]"

You are starting the previous Lightroom version, not the 2015 CC version which probably is completely updated.

                          That was it! Thank you!
I hadn't even considered this posibility... no idea why both were installed in parallel. Anyway, the new version is there, as suspected, and works fine.

                          Thanks again!
