accessing the alpha channel with copyPixels

    Level 7
I'm drawing a 32 bit image that uses an alpha channel to the stage. The
white part of the graphic that doesn't show on stage shows when I'm using
copyPixels. I set the useAlpha property of the member to TRUE but it didn't
make a difference. How can I access only the graphical portion of a member
and have it show the white as transparent?

nevermind. I struggled with this for a few hours, finding examples online
of how to handle this and I couldn't get it to work. It turns out that the
graphic designer just used regular bitmaps and cut the graphics irregularly
then used a matte ink. There was no alpha channel. The joke was on me.
