Going all the way in XD?

Why not take the designs and animations all the way to a finished Xcode project?   I have used a great visual app called Pencilcase that was a visual coding application that did allow me to export an Xcode project and open in Xcode. It worked fine, until any Xcode update.

Is there a future for that in XD?

Probably something a solid extensions framework will be able to handle. That's definitely on our roadmap, so you'll see some opportunities to accomplish this in the future!

I'd like to see Xd output a variety of project types ready for functional additions... but it doesn't currently do this.

No commitment, but we're willing to listen. If you're looking for software to generate code for you, you generally make the trade-off in its performance and capabilities. This is generally why you want to work with a developer; they'll make all that magic happen for you and give you feedback as to what is possible and not possible in a particular framework.

To clarify my comment - Would be cool to have a scaffold export for various formats/platforms that is ready for any sort of *actual* functional programming. Not a complete project. Thinking an Android Studio or XCode skeletal project.

Not anything like... Flash Catalyst... or whatever... *cough*

Design is a different skill to coding, but it is a technical skill that I don't have. It's like when I press the accelerator in my car. I make it go faster and drive it skilfully, without knowing the first thing about how combustion engines work.

I definitely want it to be like Muse and export direct to an app. It is up to the very clever coders at Adobe to make it work, and then sell us the themes and widgets.

It's not something we're planning for the short term, but you can answer some of our questions and upvote for this story: XD export feature to xCode – Adobe XD Feedback : Feature Requests & Bugs
