    Issue : Tethering Canon 5D Mark IV - Unexprect Error performing command:

      Hi everyone,

       

      I hope someone can help me. When doing direct capture, I get the following error :

       

      Unexpected error performing command:

      bad argument #1 to 'stringbyappendingpathcomponent' (string expected, got nil)

       

      I'm using Windows pro 7, 64b

      Lightroom latest version : 6.10

      Canon 5d Mark IV : latest firmware

       

      I have also proceed with the reset of presets and add the config.lua as suggested by Adobe.

       

      Any other clue?

          I don't have the same error, but my Canon tethering is broken too, with the latest update.

          I did find an error in Windows event viewer that stated issues with tether_canon.exe and EDSDK.dll in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Lightroom\tether_canon.lrplugin.

          Replacing these files with the ones from EOS Utility will not work, replacing these with the previous version of LR 6 did not work either. Replacing with 5.7 will make it run again but is not compatible with newer 5D cameras, so pointless...

          I hope Adobe can fix this soon as I rely on Tethering for some of my clients

              It seems like one of the components required for tethering is either missing or corrupt.

              Could you please confirm that the issue persists after successfully troubleshoot tether capture? See Fix tethered shooting in Lightroom

                Thanks for your feedback. Yes, I have installed as well the config.lua and followed all different suggestions without success.

                 

                I even desinstalled EOS utility 3 thinking it was a comptability issue.

                 

                To note that direct capture on EOS utility works well.

                 

                Above I sent you the debug result as well.

                 

                It's a bit frustrating, as I'm supposed to give a class on lightroom :-) :-)

                  Do you tether when the memory card is still inserted in the camera?

                  I am going to get the debug report checked meanwhile, Reinstalling Lightroom would be my next suggestion.

                    Yes, I do tether when the memory card is inserted. I have tried without, with only 1, and then two.

                     

                    I have as well uninstalled and reinstalled.

                     

                    Unfortunately, this does not solve the issue.

                     

                    Only when I create a new profile, the error disappears, yet Lightroom does not recognize My Canon 5D Mark IV or does not proceed with direct capture on Canon 5D Mark II. I do not use both of them at the same time.
