FAQ: How do adjust a Clip layer after I’ve added it to the Essential Graphics panel?

You can’t perform operations like trimming or speed effecting clips as you normally would once it's dragged to a Clip layer. Typically, any processing of this nature should be done ahead of time. You can, however, add a video effect to a Clip layer, as with any other layer in a Graphic clip, once it is added to the stack in the Effect Controls panel.

Notes on Clip layers:

  • Video always starts at the beginning and plays at 1x speed.
  • Clip layers are mostly useful for atmospheres and loops, not standard footage.
  • You cannot drop a sequence into the Clip layer at this time.
  • You can’t swap one Clip layer out for another at this time. Linking the clip to another media file is the current workaround for this shortcoming.
