Problems installing CS3

Hi,

after my hard drive crashed, I set it up again (windows 8.1) and ever since I cannot install CS3 master collection (although it worked before the crash on windows 8.1 and 10).

things I already tried:

uninstalled cloud and master collection, used the cleaner tool, installed the master collection, ended with an error that only acrobat was able be installed.

Also tried to install it from the download instead of my CDs.

What else can I do?

Nadine what error are you receiving that is preventing the installation?  The error will be recorded in the installation log.  For details on how to locate the installation log for Master Collection CS3 see Troubleshoot installation with install logs | Adobe Creative Suite 3, Adobe Creative Suite 4​.

Please post any errors you discover in the log to this discussion.

I get a message that there were problems during installation and that only Acrobat and common used components were installed.

I also saw other installation errors for both Acrobat 8 and Creative Suite referencing a previous installation of Adobe software.

You mentioned you recovered your computer to Windows 8.1.  Is everything else working properly?  If so then I would recommend completing the following steps:

  1. Run all Adobe available uninstallers in the Programs and Features control panel
  2. Run the CC Cleaner Tool to verify complete removal of the applications
  3. Reinstall Creative Suite 3

The CC Cleaner Tool is available for download at Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems​.

If you are facing any additional errors, with your current installation of Windows 8.1, then you may want to consider backing up any critical files and settings.  You can then start with a fresh installation of Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 which will put you in good position to be successful with reinstalling Creative Suite 3.

Nadine the most recent installation log is still showing a conflict with the previous installed copies.  If the software was completely removed then you would not have received those errors.

You may want to consider the second option of reinstalling Windows 8.1 if you are unable to remove the software; even after the use of the uninstallers and the CC Cleaner Tool.
