Failure to install Photoshop Lightroom 6 on Windows 7 OS

I just got a DVD version of Photoshop Lightroom 6.  When I tried to install it on an older HP compaq running Windows 7 Service Pack 1, the installation failed because, the software tells me, I can't run LR6 on Windows Vista.  I tried to reinstall three times, with the same result each time.

I checked before buying the disc, and the specs, both hardware and software, met the software requirements.

Can anybody tell me what is going on, and what I need to do to get the program working.  I've used Elements for a long time, and was really looking forward to trying Lightroom.

right click the setup file>click properties>compatibility>win 7
