I have a problem with my iMac constantly freezing with Indesign in the same way as discussed in this thread (running Sierra 10.12.14): Macbook pro freezes while running any Adobe application
It seems switching off GPU might resolve it (albeit rather unsatisfactorily) but I am unable to uncheck GPU in Preferences. It is greyed out. Only 'Animated Zoom' is available to uncheck.
Can anyone advise how to resolve this?
The fact that you cannot uncheck it because it is grayed out suggests that your GPU doesn't meet the minimum requirements to be used.
You should try restoring your InDesign preferences:
Thanks for your suggestion Steve. Trashing the Preferences has indeed enabled me to uncheck the GPU. However, it still reports that the GPU meets the minimum requirements and the details I obtained would bear that out. I understand from the Apple forum that it's an OS update that is likely to be the culprit. Hopefully this will be resolved in due course as this workaround - if it is successful - is far from a proper resolution.
