thanks for your comment unfort it didnt work..however, it appears my catalog was corrupted so did a new catalog and can now import photos
Good to know you have it 'working' now.
I think it was more likely you had a corrupt Previews folder. Simply deleting the Previews folder may have solved the problem.
Starting a new catalog means your earlier editing work is lost unless you can use the "Import from another catalog" to add the work done in your 'old' catalog.
