    Application wide capturing of HTTPStatusEvent

      Is it possible to add an application wide listener for HTTPStatus events. I've been able to capture keyboard events application wide but it doesn't seem to work for HTTPStatus events. The following is a code snippet from main.mxml. I see the alert come up during the application startup so I'm sure it is getting registered. If I register an event handler for keyboard events in a similar fashion it seems to work but I can't seem to get it to work for HTTPStatus events.

      public function registerGlobalEventHandler() :void
      {
      Alert.show("Registring");
      addEventListener(HTTPStatusEvent.HTTP_STATUS, handleHttpEvent);
      }

      private function handleHttpEvent(event:HTTPStatusEvent):void
      {
      Alert.show("Http Status:");

      }
