No video previews in Prelude sometimes?

Trying to use Prelude to ingest AVCHD (MTS) clips from Panasonic AG-AC130 and AG-AC90. I frequently run into an issue with Prelude not showing video previews. The preview space says "Processing".  Sometimes it works, other times it won't and I can't seem to see any reason for it. My only guess would be the number of clips?

I have a card with 206 short clips. The first 80 show previews then the thumbnails just say "processing". Clicking on a thumb has no effect.  I've had the ingest window open for over 5 minutes and there doesn't seem to be any progress.

Is there a way to force low resolution previews to see them more quickly?

I've tried a number of things, deleting and clearing caches, etc. What seemed to do the trick was copying the whole AVCHD file from the card to a hard drive and ingesting from there.
