Clipboard area is empty or invalid

Today, all of a sudden, I stopped being able to copy and paste from Illustrator into Photoshop. Specifically, a photo that I had done a clipping mask on in Illustrator, and was trying to bring it back into Photoshop. I had been doing a lot of copying and pasting, but now I keep getting a spinning wheel and then "clipboard area is empty or invalid" message. I've cleared the clipboard in Photoshop, but the same message keeps coming up.

      Any suggestions? Thank you!
