We have footage from an odyssey (using sony FS 700 RAW to Pro ResHQ) shot at a level of 109% (nothing was clipping). I've imported it into AE, to track and paint out some logos. The scopes still show 109%, but when I render it out, the clip is clamped at 100%. So all the detail in highlights are lost.

How can I render out of AE with out clipping the footage? What settings do I need to use to achieve this?

FYI, the original footage is 4K Pro Res HQ and rendering it out as the same. Colour management is off and project is 32 bpc.

Cheers

Hi Kevin... sorry didn't see this till recently.

So what I did was ... right click the clip in the PR timeline and "Replace clip with AE Comp".

Then in AE I removed logos with Mocha pro, saved the AE project and then back in PR there was NO CHANGE in the levels... Perfect. If however you copy and paste the same clip into AE... do your stuff and render it out. The luminance is clipped to 100%... not good if you have details in those highlights.

Cheers.

And what exact output settings are you using? You have not provided any proper info. That aside, rendering such stuff would require to use a suitable format and it mopst likely will also require some form of LUTs/ color profiles and the use of the Compander effect to get correct ranges.
