I am building a 'product' for a client which involves building cross platform apps for mobile. I am willing to use Phonegap Build as a service to compile such applications but controlled by the 'product'. Can anyone guide me through the legal issues involved if I use Phonegap Build as a tool in backend to compile cross platform apps controlled by the 'product' (of course as a paying customer to Phonegap Build) as the 'product' is going to be a part of company's trademarks.
Someone from Adobe should chime in. I would also be careful taking legal advice from anyone except a lawyer, which I am not!
That said, the things you could mention to the client:
- You are uploading their code to Adobe when using the Build service.
- You are uploading your private keys (for Apple, Google, etc) to Adobe when using Build. They should be secured on their end, but things do happen.
- Adobe uses Amazon Web Services (AWS) to host the compiled apps. Sometimes, companies may take issue with cloud solutions.
If there are concerns based on these, use the PhoneGap CLI locally instead of Build so that nothing sensitive is uploaded online.
as above. any legal questions please consult a lawyer.
