Adding simple text [Locked]

I'me still looking for simple instructions to add text, running along the bottom third of the screen at various points ion my 7 minute film. I'm getting in such a mess, trying in Quick View and Expert view, and I cannot find a simple way to do this. It can't be that hard. Sometimes I just want a couple of words appearing for a couple of seconds. At other times, I want a sentence crawling across the screen for a few seconds. other than than, nothing fancy.

Can anyone please help?
