Unable to save patterns? No pattern options.

I am unable to save tiles for patterns. I used Edit->Define Pattern->named it->click OK. When I try to fill a layer with Layer->Layer Style->Pattern Overlay, it's not there. I only have one pattern available, diagonal lines. There is no pop up, no dialog box for adding patterns, etc.... I'm on Mac 10.11.16 and PS cc2015. HELP! Making tiles

Ha ha ha! That's it! I hate modern UI design, where things are so hidden. I miss buttons and drop down menus SOOOOOOO MUCH!
