Hello, Im new to data merging and im decent with excel. What I can't figure out how to do is the Dog Show catalogue.

The sorting I need is the following:

Sort by Groups (I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X)

Each group has list of breeds (sort by alphabetical order)

Each breed has list of age classes (Baby, Puppy, Junior, Intermediate, Open class)

Each class has list of gender (Males, Females), If only one dog in an age class, no need for gender sorting

- example:

I Group

     Labrador

          Puppy class

                    Johnatan the Labrador

          Baby class

               Males

                    Johny the Labrador

               Females

                    Jenny the Labrador

       Rottweiler

          Puppy class

               Johnatan the Rott

          Baby class

                Johny the Rot

          Intermediate class

               Roger the Rot

II Group

     Great Dane

          Baby class

               Males

                    Johny the Dane

               Females

                    Jenny the Dane

     Golden Retriever

          Baby class

                Johny the Retr

          Intermediate class

               Roger the Retr

I would do the sorting in Excel, or by using a data merge plugin that can loop through and sort. There are advantages both ways.

You just need to make the excel cell's with the name that you got as the top of the column, then export it to cvs and from indesing just layout the way you want the to appear the data and just select from the data merge menu
