I am able to install my AIR application on my machine because
I have write privileges to the C:\Documents and Settings\All
Users\Start Menu\Programs folder in which the shortcut to the
application is placed – I am an administrator on my
development machine. However, when my customer installs the
application they must get an administrator to perform the
installation because, by default, they do not have write access the
‘All Users’ directory.
Does anyone know how I can customize the install process to
add the shortcut to the logged-on user’s Documents and
Settings folder where write privileges are in place.
This problem also applies to the desktop – All Users
vs. the individual’s desktop.
The programMenuFolder option of the application descriptor
files lets you place the shortcut in a folder in the
‘Programs’ folder but it will still go into ‘All
