Make your composition longer.

The current time indicator can not sit in between frames. It only sits on whole frames.

Your composition is only a couple of frames long. Most videos are 24, 25, 30, or 60 frames per second. If you have only 5 frames in your composition, your composition is only a fraction of a second long. That is the situation you are in. Make your composition five seconds long instead of five frames long and things will behave more like you expect.

Your composition is only 5 FRAMES long.  It is NOT 5 seconds long.  The timeline is showing you frames zero through four.

You can change the length in the composition settings.

Go to your composition settings:

0menu.jpg

See how this value is only five frames long? Change this value:

1change.jpg

See how it's now changed to five seconds long? Change it to be something like this:

2done.jpg

Press OK. Now you'll probably notice that your timeline is zoomed way in so you're still looking at the same five frames.

3zoom.jpg

Now drag on that little bar up there (or go to the bottom where the little mountain pictures are and zoom out on your timeline.

And you will see that it looks like this now:

4zoomdone.jpg

It should now behave as you expect.
