I am porting a version of my application from the beta
version of AIR to 1.0 and have found that the application storage
directory that AIR chooses for me is different between the two
versions. In the beta version, the directory is the same name as my
application Id from my application xml file. In the 1.0 version,
the directory is the application ID with a random number appended
to it. Any idea what is going on here? This obviously breaks
backwards compatibility since the files that were in the storage
directory are no longer accessible
This was a one-time change that occurred after Beta 2.
The number appended to your application ID is not random, but
is actually a hash which ties the application to your publishing
certificate. That avoids the possibility of another application
from a different publisher choosing the same application ID and
creating a conflicting storage directory.
