I am making a layered document to which I'm adding a number of layers with the type tool. Once the type shows up, I can't move it or, for that matter, any of the layers. Once, I did something that allowed me to move the typed layers with the up/down/left/right keys, but now I can't figure out what I did. Does anyone have any ideas?
Hi
You should be able to click on the layer in the layers panel to select it.
Also if you prefer, you can check "Auto select" & "layer" in the options bar for the move tool and you can click directly in the image to select the layer (personally I usually leave that off, but there are some who prefer it)

Hi with the move tool selected , you should just be able to click on the type layer in the layers panel then go to your image and move the type around.
Can you show a screenshot with the move tool selected and the type layer selected,( include the layers panel and options bar so we can see if anything is stopping it such as a locked layer )

I have since figured it out. It is imperative that the correct layer be selected in the layers palette before trying to move it. The real discovery, of course, was that the mouse did no good; one must use the up/down etc. keys. Thank you all for contributing to this site. I just discovered it and have already learned a lot.
