Validation process of a digital signature

      Hello,

We search some documentation about how Adobe Reader makes the validation of digital signatures. We want to know what fields in a PADES signature are checked and what default values are recognized in this fields. Our needs are more technical and we don’t see any document in the Adobe website which describes this.

Especially we have the following questions:

      - In Adobe Reader, what are the criteria to pronounced a signature conformed to the directive 1999/93/CE or conformed to the eIDAS regulation 910/2014 (date of the generation of CA’s certificate maybe?)?

      - How is the validation mechanism of Adobe Reader when the signature was done with a valid certificate chain (certificates end-user and CA are OK) but the validation is done at a date where the CA certificate is expired?

      - How is the validation mechanism of Adobe Reader when the signature was done with a valid CRL  (certificates end-user and CA are OK) but the validation is done at a date where the CRL is expired?

      - What is the difference between mechanism of validation when a signature is done in PKCS#7 format and a signature is done with “CADES equivalent” format?

Can you help us and could you tell us where to find such documentation?

      Best Regards,

      Sylvain
