This issue is very complicated to explain. I have 3 different external drives I store my photos.
1st drive has images from 2005 to 2010
2nd drive has images from 2011-2014
3rd drive has images from 2015-2017
Now when I connect my 2nd drive, my computer reads the drive as G: . It is supposed to read as E:. I recently added a internal HDD on my computer which is not my new E: that is why my external HDD is reading as G: now.
Is there a way on Lightroom to change the drive path from E: to G: so it correctly reads my HDD?
Actually I have solved this issue.
I changed my existing E: path to Y: via Disk Management
and then changed G: to E:
I wish there was a easy option on Lightroom to make this change.
There is no way to rename a HDD in Lightroom. Use the operating system for this,
But you can easily re-link the folders in the catalog to the new name of the HDD.
You will find answers in Steps 2. and 3. here-
As you discovered with one drive, it may be best to rename all three drives to something like- X: Y: and Z: and re-link the catalog folders to all three, then the problem should not arise again.
