Hi, I have a question that has a simple answer but I can't seem to get one anywhere that addresses it directly. This is my first book and I'm relatively new to Adobe InDesign so don't beat me up.
I'm printing an 8x5 book thats going to be around 1000 pages thick, so I'm making my outside margin .25" and the inner margin is .875".
My question is do I ADD those margins to the 5 inches so I would need to start with a page thats 6 inches wide or do I INCLUDE them in the 5 inches?
TIA.
You should include the margins. Your page size should be 8 x 5.

WOW! Thanks you so much for the speedy answer and especially taking the time to post a picture just to make sure that I understood clearly what you said.

Don't forget to add bleed according to the printer's requirement!
Images up to the edge have to extend to the bleed's frame.
