scanning two sided document with single pass ADF scanner

I just purchased an HP PageWide Pro MPF with a single pass ADF scanner, which allows two-sided documents to be scanned simultaneously.  Am now having trouble getting Adobe Acrobat Standard to scan both sides of a two sided document with this MPF.  Any ideas how to get Adobe to scan both sides of a two sided document using this single pass technology?

Please be advised as I was providing below information, I realized I had

exchanged printers (same model) but had uninstalled software and then

reinstalled software with second printer.

Tried Adobe again, and the single pass scanner now works correctly with

two-sided documents being scanned, so it appears my.issue has bern resolved.

Thank you

Hi brucer18892299,

Sorry for the delay in response.

Have you tried to check if you have any pending updates for Acrobat, to check for pending updates, launch Acrobat>Help> Check for updates. Also, try to check for the latest drivers for the scanner.

If the issue is still reproducible, please help us with the following information.

1. Operating system name and version.

2. Acrobat version installed. To check launch Acrobat> Adobe Adobe Acrobat.

3 Driver version for the scanner and is it WIA or Twain driver?

4. Make and model of the scanner.

Will be waiting for your response.

Here's a fairly straight-forward manual way to create a PDF of single-sided scans of a two-sided document using Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Bridge with no scripting.

  1. Keeping your stack in the same order...
  2. Scan first side to a PDF.  Call it scan1.pdf.  This should be in the correct order.
  3. Scan second side to a second PDF.  Call it scan2.pdf.  This will be last-page-first, but we'll fix that later.
  4. Open both in Acrobat.
  5. Optimize the PDF's letting Acrobat auto-recognize text and rotate pages as needed.
  6. From scan1.pdf, extract pages as separate PDF files.  Tip: Do this in a new, temporary, empty work folder.
  7. Use Bridge to view the folder, order by filename.
  8. Use Batch Rename on all the pages using <numbered sequence starting with 1><"a">.  You'll get something like 1a, 2a, 3a...
  9. Now extract scan2.pdf pages to separate PDF files in the same work folder.
  10. In Bridge, reverse the page order.  This should put your actual first page of the second side at the top of the list even though the extracted filename will show the "last" page.
  11. Use Bridge again correct the numbering.  Rename the second side pages to <numbered sequence starting with 1><"b">.  You'll get 1b, 2b, 3b...
  12. (Optional) Check that Bridge now shows the pages interwoven in the order they should be (1a, 1b, 2a, 2b,...).  If you like, you can use Bridge batch renaming one more time to get something like p1, p2, p3,... or whatever you like.
  13. Back in Acrobat, use Combine to put all the pages into one PDF.  Save.
  14. Clean up and delete work folder

@AM_Dave: that may seem straight forward to you, for everyone else it's complicated as heck.

Use VueScan or another third party utility such as Foxit Business. The fact that Adobe Acrobat lacks the functionality to allow one to scan double sided sheets with a single side scanner is absurd.

Right? I'm having this same issue after recent Acrobat updates, only to come here and find threads on the same problem dating back to 2014. Seriously, wtf? I pay way to much money for this suite for this kind of BS to be happening to literally 101 level functionality. Get your act together Adobe.
