Problem removing photos from LR 6

I am having trouble removing photos from LR 6 .After I edit a file in LR and then Photoshop Elements 10 I save the photo to my hard drive.When I go back into LR to remove the previous versions I click remove and it just times out before the photo is removed .The only way I can remove the photo is to select it, click remove then shut down LR , then restart LR .Any suggestions?

have you closed the photo in PSE? You can't delete it from Lightroom if the photo is still open in PSE.
