Getting Photoshop CC 2017 to Open newly scanned NEF files in camera raw

I have many 35mm negatives that I would like to scan as NEF files but since Nikon no longer supports their LS-4000 scanner I cannot get my newly scanned NEF files to open on either the Mac or PC.  All of the files scanned in 2011 as NEF's will open in camera raw but None of the new ones will because they are not recognized.

What suggestions do you have?

Where do I look to find a work around?

Alternatively you can try the DNG Converter: Adobe Digital Negative Converter 9.x
