Hi,

I have just purchased Adobe Illustrator CC. I wish to run it on an IMac with ver 10.12.5 Sierra with 8gb ram.

I have down loaded the software and installed and registered it. I have also purchased Adobe Illustrator  CC in a Book.

I have a number of problems.

I. With the purchase of the book I was given lessons on a zip file. I cannot open the zip file although it shows in Finder?

2. The book states that before beginning each lesson I need to restore the default preferences, however I can't find the preferences.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

While restarting Illustrator hold CMD-OPTION-SHIFT (CTR-ALT-SHIFT). Illustrator will not ask you to reset the preferences. If the welcome screen does not have recent files listed you reset your preferences.

Here is  a PDF i put together for my class with all the links and keyboard shortcuts to reset any Adobe product.

To unzip the package, try a different software. There are multiple unzip packages available.

If that doesn't work, ask the publisher of that book.

As for the preferences, please read:

The CIB gives directions on deleting (or saving) Preferences on page 4.

  • The Chapter Heading on page 1 is "Getting Started".
  • The Subheading on page 4 is "Restoring Default Preferences".

Those are the two headings the CIB is referring to when each lesson says, "See "Restoring default preferences" in the "Getting Started" section at the beginning of the book.

However, IMHO, it is not at all necessary to do this step between lessons. Only do it if the tools don't work as expected. Instead, just re-set your workspace so the panels are in the same places as they are in the book. (See page 44.)
