video in PS - problems in using layers to fix footage dust spots

I need to remove dust spots from video footage. It's all on one shot
(no camera movement).

I seem to be able to do this using the brush tool on a new layer.

how do I get this to apply to all of my footage?

I have tried and it looks ok with the new layer, but it does not seem
to 'apply'... the minute you hit PLAY, the fixes (removing the dust spots) are
gone.

Any clues appreciated.

This is for an art installation and is overdue...

Thanks Dave,

I ended up removing the dust spots in Adobe Premiere Pro using the Elipse masking tool. Cheers k

Hi

Have you put the layer above the video and ensured it appears in the timeline for the length of your clip (drag start and end points)

You can't unless you have the original layered files (be they Premiere, Final Cut, AE or whatever). Exported video files are not saved with layers.
