Please check if you have any pending updates, to check launch Acrobat> Help > Check for updates. Also, try repairing the application to repair Acrobat/Reader > Help > Repair installation (Applicable to windows users only)
Let us know when exactly the issue occurs on your machine, it is while opening a document or while closing Acrobat/Reader. Help us with the current version of Acrobat/Reader installed.
